Modernizing a College Intramural Sports Handbook

This artifact demonstrates the redesign of a college intramural sports handbook. The project involved transforming an outdated Word document into a modern, professionally formatted InDesign document suitable for both print and PDF export. The redesign leveraged advanced design principles, including C.R.A.P. and grid-based design, to enhance usability and visual appeal.

Approach

The process began with a thorough analysis of the original document to identify weaknesses in design and structure. Issues such as inconsistent formatting, poor alignment, and crowded and cluttered layouts were targeted for improvement.

Redesign

Using Adobe InDesign, the content was restructured on a grid to achieve balance and consistency. Fonts, colors, and spacing were standardized, while visual elements such as tables, text boxes, and sidebars were strategically incorporated to enhance clarity and usability.

The document was refined through iterative reviews, ensuring alignment with design principles and audience needs.
