Strategizing HR Insights: Analyzing Simulations for Effective Decisions

This artifact showcases a comprehensive group report and presentation on an HR management simulation project. Completed as part of my undergraduate Compensation course, the project involved analyzing trends, making strategic HR decisions, and assessing their impact on staffing, wages, benefits, training, and overall organizational outcomes. As Assistant Team Leader, I contributed to the organization, writing, formatting, and data visualization to deliver a polished and impactful final report and presentation.

Background

The goals of the project included:

  • Gaining a deeper understanding of HR management concepts such as compensation, training, and employee morale.
  • Using simulation-based learning to make informed HR decisions and analyze their outcomes.
  • Collaborating as a team to create a professional and cohesive report and presentation.

The deliverable was a detailed presentation emphasizing clear data visualization and strategic insights.

Objectives

The primary objectives of this project were:

  • To identify trends in staffing, wages, benefits, and training decisions over the course of the simulation.
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of initial strategies and adjust them to achieve better outcomes.
  • To present findings in a clear and professional format, highlighting the impact of strategic shifts.

Outcome

The project achieved the following results:

  • Detailed analysis of HR simulation trends, including reduced turnover and absenteeism, and increased morale and productivity through adjusted benefits and training strategies.
  • A visually compelling presentation, showcasing actionable insights and future recommendations.
  • Strengthened teamwork and project management skills through collaborative decision-making and task delegation.

Approach

The project began with setting goals and initial strategies for staffing, wages, benefits, and training. Over several simulation rounds, our team analyzed trends and adapted strategies to address emerging challenges. For example, we increased training budgets to improve employee safety and morale while strategically balancing wages and benefits to optimize turnover rates.

I contributed to the organization and writing of the final presentation, ensuring it adhered to professional standards. Data trends were visualized using Microsoft Excel, and the presentation was created in PowerPoint with animation and transitions to engage the audience. Notes and prompts were used during the presentation to maintain a consistent delivery.

Final Deliverable

The final deliverable was a PowerPoint presentation, optimized for professional and academic review.
